Madagascan Vanilla Pods

At Vanillaetc we are careful to source the best Grade A Bourbon beans from Madagascar. Vanilla pods are graded by their colour, with the highest quality classed as ‘black’. They are actually a very dark brown and should be creamy and sweet with vanillin overtones. Our stringent quality control means that you can be sure you will only ever receive the very best beans.

Storage: When stored correctly, in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, vanilla pods should keep for up to 2 years, however we recommend only buying quantities of vanilla pods that you will use within a year. Temperature and an airtight container being the most significant factors in successful storage. Ideally vanilla pods should be stored at between 15 – 25C.

Both our Premium Gourmet and Gourmet Vanilla Pods are grade A Madagascan Bourbon. The key difference between them is the length and fatness of the individual vanilla pods. The Premium vanilla pods are 2cm longer, containing more seeds and more vanillin.

Recommended Uses:

Vanilla pods can be used whole or split to create a range of delicious treats. Whole: to impart a heavenly vanilla flavour to your favourite tipple such as vodka, or to make an amazing vanilla sugar for baking. Split: to release the intense flavour of the tiny seeds in Crème Brulée, Crème Anglaise (Custard), Vanilla Panna Cotta and Chantilly Cream to name but a few.
