Sustainability Story

Reducing Waste

This applies not only to our own packaging but to the ingredients and everything else we buy and use. We are strict about reusing and recycling everything we can. And we ensure that our raw material which just so happens to be Vanilla is processed through different stages to create further products with zero waste!!!

All our products are packed in recyclable packaging and the void fill which we use to ensure your products arrive with you safely is made from cornstarch. These are UK manufactured and eco-friendly as they are fully biodegradable.

In our purpose-built premises, all our lighting is LEDs, and each area is controlled by sensors that automatically switch the lights on and off as required.

Supply Chain

It is important that Vanilla Etc is recognised for its sustainable and ethical practices, so we will always work to be responsible stewards of our environment by being accountable for our actions. This includes taking measures to reduce carbon emissions, some of which include continued work towards a circular economy.

All our suppliers go through a strict supplier approval process to ensure we are working with credible businesses that share our views. Our Vanilla suppliers are Ecocert accredited and certified for Fairtrade and are also Rainforest Alliance certified. These certifications ensure they are committed to driving more sustainable agricultural production and responsible supply chains.

Commitment to our Community and our Employees

We are working with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership to provide ongoing support to our Local Community through Schools & Colleges. There is a range of topics as business volunteers that we have committed to, such as: providing careers advice, site visits at schools & colleges, visits to our site, or helping students with interview practice. Our stance is if we can help – then we will.

We value our employees and want them not only to help grow the business but also to grow and develop their own skills – which come hand in hand in a small business. So, by wanting to support the “next generation of women leaders” at Vanilla Etc, we are working with the #WECAN project to build leadership skills, capabilities, and opportunities for themselves.
